  18. Robert B. Parker, vintage detective Philip Marlowe has one last
  19. case -- for his usual fee. Four chapters left behind by
  20. Marlowe's late creator, Raymond Chandler, intrigued the author,
  21. who has written 17 Spenser mysteries, and he finished the tale.
  22. The result, Poodle Springs, will be published this fall. The
  23. project meant some historical adjustments, says Parker.
  24. "Marlowe's attitudes toward women reflect the '30s and '40s. But
  25. he's more romantic than Spenser."
